Is anyone else thoroughly creeped out by the new Quaker Oats ads on the sides of buses? As part of their Quaker Go Project, there are now ads that consist of only a picture of the Quaker mascot, with the phrase “Go humans go” written in black text on the otherwise white sign.
Tthe only picture of it I could find right now is in this blog, which also thinks the campaign is creepy but for different reasons. His picture isn’t the one on the Philly buses though. Our bus ads feature the entire head of the Quaker, his flesh shiny and robotic, a poor silicon copy of human skin. He stares out at the viewer with a condescending smile on his face. “Go human go” he says, mocking us. He is secure in his knowledge that his is the master race, and soon we will all be eliminated.
Seriously, watch the buses as they drive past you in Center City. It’s a creepy fucking campaign.

I saw this as I was going into work this morning. I was really creeped out by his smug smile and his creepy slogan.
When I first saw the ads I thought what the heck is this and the more I see them, yes, they are creepy and I don’t understand what message they are trying to put out. ‘Go, humans, go”? Yeah, for away from this wierd-looking . . .
