The mayor will not stand for your shenanigans.
Nutter was on scene tonight at this season’s final Lawn Chair Drive-In movie. He shook hands with guests, made a slightly funny speech (in the mildly amusing, politician way), and took pictures with fans.
He seemed like a pretty nice guy. He came up behind my friend and I, put his hand on our shoulders, and welcomed up to the Lawn Chair Drive-In.
I was surprised that he only had two security agents (that I could see at least. There may have been stealth ninjas in the trees).
And yes, sadly, tonight was the last of the 2008 season. The Drive-In ended with The Kid Brother instead of the previously scheduled Buster Keaton movie Seven Chances. Apparently almost all Keaton movies are in the public domain, except for that particular one which due to a technicality some guy owns the rights to for another hundred years. Said guy waited until the last minute (last week) to mention this to anyone, so the Drive-In people had to scramble for a replacement film.
But, The Kid Brother was a really funny movie, Mayor Nutter was a great surprise (except for the stoned people, who I believe were a little freaked out by the sudden appearance of armed guards), and the weather cooperated to make for a fantastic closing night.
